Mkomazi National Park protects savannah and semi-arid habitats in north-eastern Tanzania. It is especially associated with conservation programmes for black rhinos and African wild dogs, alongside a wider landscape of woodland, plains and birdlife.
A visit can add a different perspective to a northern or eastern Tanzania route. Sanctuary visits and specialist activities need specific arrangements; they are planned separately from general wildlife viewing and depend on park availability.
Best time to visit
Conditions are often warm and dry, with seasonal changes in access and wildlife distribution. Confirm sanctuary visiting arrangements before travel.
